Whisper it, but there are only 39 days until Christmas. So time for my last Newsletter of the year.
Just a note to advise you that if you haven’t received them already, your children will be getting their raffle tickets home this week. Please help by selling them to friends, family and work colleagues. The Christmas Draw will take place on Thursday 15th December in Kemnay Bowling Club. There will be some fantastic prizes to win including £250 cash, an Ipod Touch, a signed AFC football and many more. There will also be an auction for a rather special piece of Scottish Football memorabilia. There will be food for everyone and the fun will start at 7.30pm. We hope that once again it will prove to be a great fundraiser for the Club.
Your respective squad coach or coordinator will also be seeking donations for the raffle and contributions for the squad hampers. Thanks for your generosity and for selling your tickets.
After years of trying to find a piece of land to develop our own pitches and facilities, it looks as though we’ve finally had a breakthrough. The Club has been offered a long-term, low-cost lease on a piece of land just outside Kemnay on the Fetternear Estate. The space which appears to be big enough for two pitches, car parking and some changing facilities provides the Club a fantastic opportunity. At the moment Martin Kelly is working up some initial plans and developing costs with a view to making a start to any development in 2012. We are extremely grateful to Martin for the work he’s done so far and we’ve given him the go-ahead to progress matters.
Here’s the plea.
We are going to need help progressing plans to a point where we’re ready to put a spade in the ground, so if there’s anyone out there – a parent, a family member or a colleague – who has experience in developments like this, in construction activities, in local planning and can spare us some time to form part of a sub-committee to progress this hugely exciting opportunity, please contact me or any member of the Committee.
The girls squad is continuing to train on a Friday evening and making some progress. Unfortunately plans for the Kemnay Ladies to take a greater role in the girls development have so far not come to fruition so the training is being covered by other coaches. We hope that the Ladies will come up trumps but if there’s anyone out there who’d like to get more involved in coaching please contact me on the details below.
You can’t escape the power and influence of social networking and social media like Facebook or Twitter. As well as many other benefits, they are fantastic ways to keep in touch with people. KFC2000 already have their own Facebook page and other squads may have individual Groups but we propose to create a Kemnay Football Club Facebook page so that we can use it to keep players, parents and anyone else who ‘Likes’ us up to speed with what’s new in the Club, to notify everyone on forthcoming events and many other things.

Currently our Committee consists of representatives from only a few of our squads – K1997, K1999, K2000 and K2002 and next year at our AGM a number of vacancies will require filling. I will definitely be stepping down as Chairperson after 4 years in the role and Kirsten Cassidy will be stepping down as Player Protection Officer after a similar period. Change is healthy in any Club so we would love to encourage new blood onto the Committee and to inject some fresh ideas to take the Club forward for the next few years. You don’t have to be a coach, nor do you have to be an expert in football, merely to have a passion to do your best for the boys and girls that represent Kemnay Football Club. Please let any of the Committee know if you’d like to get more involved.
We have particularly healthy younger squads coming through starting with our P1’s if there’s anyone who would like to a bit more, let us know please.
On behalf of the K99 squad, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended the race night on 4th November. A good night was had by all and approximately £1400 was raised to go towards a trip for the squad around about Easter 2013.
