SFA PLAYER PATHWAY

A few of the Kemnay coaches attended a meeting hosted jointly by the SFA and SYFA this week. The purpose of the meeting was for the SFA to outline some proposed changes to Youth football and to introduce its Player Pathway i.e. the route available to children who start playing football at 5 years of age right through to the age of 19. The key changes include:

  • A change in the playing season for the young ages, specifically the introduction of summer football
  • A change that means that our Under 12's will play an extra season of 7-a-side football instead of moving (as is currently the case) to 11-a-side at that age group.

It is proposed that these changes will be phased in by the Aberdeen and District Juvenile FA over the next 12-18 months - watch this space.

REGIONAL TRIALS SUCCESS

A grand total of eight Kemnay players were recently selected for the Under 13 Regional Trials. Iain Kelly and Sean Wilson (KFC1997 and 1996 respectively) did enough to catch the eye of the watching selectors and were invited back. Furthermore Sean was asked back for the SFA Final Trials. Well done to everyone who represented Kemnay Football Club, well done to the coaches Brian and Blayre who have undoubtedly played their part in the young players development and congratulations to Sean for his success.

KEMNAY FC OPEN EVENING

The Club will be holding an open evening on Monday 19th April in the Wainman Room of the Village Hall. This is aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about the Club, anyone who has children who would like to play football but currently doesn't or indeed anyone who'd like to get more involved in the day to day running of our Club. It starts at 7.30pm and all are welcome.

TOURNAMENT UPDATE

The application forms for the Tournament (on Saturday May 15th) were sent out to Clubs a couple of weeks ago and the response has been nothing short of amazing. Within 48 hours three of the age categories were fully subscribed and at the time of writing this we have only one space available, in the Under 8's age group and teams on waiting lists for every other age group.

The reputation of the Tournament grows year on year and for the first time in 2010, two SPL Clubs will be represented with Aberdeen entering teams in the Under 9's and 11's and Dundee United being represented in the Under 12's

AND FINALLY…….

A big thank you to everyone who has already sponsored me for my tandem skydive in aid of Help the Aged / Age Concern. Weather permitting I'll be hurling myself out of a plane attached to a complete stranger on Sunday 4th April, so if you'd like to sponsor me, there is still time. As I mentioned before the easiest way is through my colleagues fundraising page - www.justgiving.com/Fraser-Bain
