Dear Parents / Guardians,
Hello and welcome to the 2008/2009 season on behalf of the Executive Committee and the Coaching Team. Hopefully you’ve all managed to enjoy some decent summer weather, either at home or abroad and are ready for the new season. Last season one of real progress for Kemnay Football Club both on and off the pitch and I’ve no doubt that this season will be no different.
This year sees some firsts for the club - a new P1 intake and new coaches; John Muirhead’s KFC2000 squad entering the Development League and Brian Cheyne’s KFC97 moving up to 11-a-side for the new season. Good luck to them and to all our teams.
After almost two years hard work, Kemnay FC’s application for the Scottish Football Association Quality Mark Award has been submitted. Assuming our application is approved, this will make Kemnay FC one of only a handful of clubs in the North and North East of Scotland to have it. The award recognises excellence in organisation, in administration and in training and coaching provision.
We are indebted to former Club Chairperson and KFC99 coach Derek Brown for doing all the groundwork for the application.
The Kemnay FC Fundraising Committee has booked Kemnay Bowling Club for a Family Fun Quiz Night on Saturday October 11th. All parents, players and friends are welcome and we look forward to seeing you there. The fun starts at 7.30pm.
KFC1999 was recently invited to participate in a football tournament at Newmachar in memory of Liam Henderson. Liam was a Tartan Army member tragically killed while attending a Scotland International fixture at Hampden and the tournament is one of a number of events held to raise funds for a charitable trust established in his name.
Kemnay FC played Westdyke BC and Newmachar Colts twice, winning all four games in the process while not conceding a goal. Well done to all the players - KFC99’s Caitlin Robbie, Sebastian Ross, Glen Munro, Reece Brown, Archie Simons and Mason Reid, and thanks to Josh Collie (KFC98) and Callum Campbell and Ben Bell (KFC2000) who augmented our squad with so many regular squad members away on holiday.
Kemnay FC’s second fundraising Sporting Dinner is booked for Saturday 12th September 2009. Tables costing £550 for a table of 10 are available to individuals or organisations on a first come first served basis. Speakers are Bill Barclay (star of stage and screen) and Mr Donald Findlay QC, former Vice-Chairman of Rangers Football Club and Scotland’s most prominent Criminal Defence Advocate.
The evening, compered by Iain Thain is expected to sell out quickly so anyone interested in securing a table should contact Derek Brown or Sharon Walker.
All monies raised on the night will be ploughed back into Kemnay FC and to develop its facilities and equipment going forward.
To you parents and guardians, please get along to watch your children play if you possibly can. You’ll see some terrific football. The players, I know really appreciate the support and it reflects well on the Club to see a set of vocal, supportive and most importantly fair minded supporters on the sidelines.
To all the coaches, thanks in advance for giving up your free time to in the evenings and at weekends to coach and supervise the children. Without your input we have no Club.
To all the players, good luck for the new season. Practice hard, play fair and do your best for Kemnay FC.
All the best,
Steven Law,
Kemnay FC Chairperson
