Christmas 2008

Merry ChristmasChairperson’s Newsletter

How quickly a season can pass. It seems like only yesterday that I was writing my first newsletter as Club Chairperson, now it’s the last one of 2008. So it seems an appropriate opportunity to give you an update on what’s happening at Kemnay Football Club.

FAMILY QUIZ NIGHT

Thanks to all everyone who came along and supported the family quiz night in such good numbers. Congratulations to the winners, commiserations to the runners-up and we’re delighted to report that the evening raised a healthy £655 for Kemnay FC funds.

WELL DONE KFC1995!

KFC1995 recently answered a call from the North District to volunteer players to be coached by delegates completing their SFA Level 4 Coaching qualification. This is the first time that Kemnay FC has been asked to support such a course and the feedback from the SFA representatives and coaches on the players’ skills, behaviour and attitude was excellent. We hope that this will be the first of many such opportunities.

GRAND XMAS RAFFLE AND DRAW

Hopefully you’ll all have received your Christmas raffle tickets from your team co-ordinators. This is our one major fund-raiser for the year so please help us to bolster our funds by selling tickets to family, friends and work colleagues. The draw takes place at the Bowling Club on Thursday 18th December at 7.30pm and we’d be delighted to see you all there.

KEMNAY FC SPORTING DINNER 2009

A reminder that tables for Kemnay FC’s second Sporting Dinner is booked for Saturday 12th September 2009 are now on sale at £550 for a table of 10. Watch this space for updates!

KEMNAY FC – CURRENT CHALLENGES

We’ve all been working hard both on and off the pitch to progress a number of issues, some successfully and others less so.

  • We’ve purchased some new battery powered floodlights that will give teams the flexibility to train outside during the winter months if weather permits
  • We’ve entered early discussions with DFS with a view to them becoming our official kit and equipment supplier
  • Discussions with Aberdeenshire Council continue around our use of Kemnay Academy on match days. Unfortunately the wheels of local government turn slowly so we’ve been frustrated that, despite initial optimism, we’ve as yet been unable to agree a satisfactory outcome.
  • We have received planning permission to site a 20’ storage container next to the pavilion for storage – enabling better use of the pavilion for changing - now we just need to find a container!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Whilst the football season doesn’t ever quite stop, we do take something of a break over the festive season so on behalf of the Committee, all the coaches and team co-ordinators, have a very Merry Christmas with your nearest and dearest and a safe and prosperous New Year.

Steven Law
Kemnay FC Chairperson
