Easter Sunday saw a return to action for KFC 2002 following the School holidays.
The Pitch conditions were ideal following Saturdays rainfall although we were going to have to work extremely well as a team today to compensate for the warm weather and the fact we had no subsitutes due to illness and holidays.
With our regular Goal Keeper Cameron Crosbie absent today we were greatful for Alfie, Stuart, Kieren & Fraser to volunteer to fill this position and help out the squad.
The first period began with Kemnay on the attack and playing some absolutely fantastic football, creating chance after chance but full credit to Albion for blocking shots clearing off the line and some great goal keeping.
The midfield trio of Kieren, Leah and Arron were keeping control of the game and Stuart was working his socks off in the strikers role but time after time our goal scoring efforts were denied but eventually following a great delivery from a corner on the right by Leah which was met first time by Arron to opening the scoring. The same two linked up again with a repeat of the same move to create a second and Stuart grabbed a third as a reward for his 1st period efforts. Our defence of Alfie, Dax and Fraser were coping well when Albion caught us on the counter attack with a combination of great timing, strength and most importantly supporting one another.
A much needed juice break was welcomed as the sun was becoming warmer but hey we are not complaining if this is what summer football brings.
Stuart took up the goal keeping duties for the second period which again began with Kemnay seeing lots of possession but unlike the first period our free flowing passing and movement had deserted us as we took extra touches, one turn too many etc but it's all part of their learning experience. It took us a while before we got fully back in our stride but when we did it was worth the wait with Kieren Alfie & Arron all combining and each adding the names to the scoresheet with well taken goals.
Again defensively Dax & Fraser had things under control although Stuart did well bringing off a fine save from the Albion Forward.
A wee gentle reminder along with plenty of fluids was required at the interval as the weather conditions and fatigue were begin to take effect.
Kieren and Fraser agreed to take 10 Minutes each in goals for the third period which saw Kemnay add further goals with two well struck shots from the diagonal from Leah & Stuart and Aaron completing his tally of eight goals for the day.
Albion got their reward for never giving up by scoring a couple of goals in this period and the game finished with both teams displaying good technique at their penalty kicks.
Extremely pleasing performance from every Kemnay Player today, with fantastic skill, passing and movement but unbelievable teamwork they should be very pleased with themselves as the coaches certainly were.
