STONEHAVEN YFC YOUTH 3 KEMNAY FC 97 1
Hopes were high after a good cup performance against the Stonehaven B-League team the previous week but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.
Playing against the wind, Kemnay put Stonehaven under pressure in the first minute, after Iain's initial shot was parried by the keeper, it was Dean who then came close to scoring after a goalmouth scaramble. Iain hit the bar after 5 minutes before Alex in the Kemnay goal pulled-off a good double save. Not too much to report over the next 20 minutes until Iain broke through the Stonehaven defence but his shot low to the right was saved. Unfortunately, Stonehaven’s pressure eventually paid-off and they scored just before half time.
Half Time:Stonehaven 1 Kemnay FC 97 0
The second half started evenly balanced and the first chance fell to Stonehaven but Charlie managed a good blocking tackle. Kemnay started to use the wind to their advantage and it was Iain who eventually ran through to slot the ball under the keeper for the equaliser. Unfortunately, it was Stonehaven who started to create the better chances with the KFC defence often left exposed and it was no great surprise when they eventually scored a second then a third.
It was a bit of an off-day for Kemnay but there wasn’t much between the teams and hopefully the scores can be reversed in the return fixture.
