Kemnay FC Juve 9 Colony Park Barca 6

Unfortunately we were missing 2 of our players for this fixture Matthew Law and Archie Simmons due to Holidays. Fortunately we were able to call on the services of the Milan goalkeeper Calum Wilson.  Due to the home pitches being congested this morning, Kemnay Juve had a later kick off. The weather was wet and cold but the pitch was in good condition for the local Derby game.

1st Period

The home team got straight down to business from the outset getting straight on the attack.  The visitors defence held strong and came back on the counter to find Reuben and Cameron equally strong in defence.

Kemnay’s next attack started from the back with Cameron, knocking the ball out wide right to Mason who made a short run before sending the ball through the middle to Sebastian who turned quickly to slip between 2 defenders and slot the ball in to the bottom right of the net with 2 minutes gone.

Colony were not about to sit back and let the home team take control of the game and were passing well and piling pressure on the Kemnay defence forcing Calum Wilson to make some outstanding saves.

Once again Kemnay started play from the back with Calum cleverly throwing the ball out to Reuben who had himself in space wide on the right, drawing the Colony attackers in, he passed in to Sebastian in the middle of the park who quickly sent it wide to Mason who spotted Ethan grabbing the defenders attentions and drawing them out wide leaving Liam in a great goal scoring position and sent a lovely ball through the visitors midfield for Liam to display his quick feet and placed the ball across the front of the keeper in to the bottom right corner of the goal.

Colony held possession well and were looking dangerous and forced Kemnay’s defence to be lively on several occasions and Calum was called in to action between the sticks to make some fantastic saves.  When Kemnay had possession they played some nice football and were creating numerous chances, winning a free kick just outside the box.  Kemnay organised themselves well in the box as Liam stepped up to take the free kick.  He chipped the ball high in the air to meet Mason who nodded a cool header past the front of the keeper in to the bottom left of the net. Colony began play again looking lively but with a combination of Cameron timing some perfect tackles, Reuben constantly on their case and the midfield tracking back to support, Kemnay made it very hard for them to find any shots on target. Both teams were playing some terrific football when Kemnay won a corner.  Once again Liam stepped up to take the corner spotting Mason just outside the box, signalling where he wanted the ball. As Liam took the corner Mason made his move and met the ball high in the air to head it in the top right of the goal.

The game was a closely fought one with each team playing some nice football throughout the field. Kemnay were keeping tight, not allowing Colony much of the possession. Ethan was constantly causing the visiting defence problems with some fantastic turns, passing and getting himself in to menacing areas. After some intelligent passing football, Sebastian collected the ball to make a short run before drilling the ball in to the back of the net.

2nd Period

Colony started the livelier of the teams and created a few chances early on, only the finishing was to stop them from scoring with a couple of shots going just over the bar.  Colony kept working hard and had several shots on target, but once again Calum’s safe hands prevented the visitor’s from scoring.

Kemnay started to find their shape again and made things a little harder for the opposition.  Lewis and Reuben had to be on their toes and were hard but fair on the tackle to keep the attack at bay. Lewis making good use of the ball when he gathered possession with some well thought passing and good runs up the left side, linking up well with Liam, Ethan and Matthew.  Matthew was working hard and holding the ball up well and was unlucky not to score on a couple occasions with the Colony Keeper in good form.  Unfortunately after some clever build up play Colony grabbed another goal.

Kemnay restarted the game and were very quick on the break with Matthew setting up Sebastian with a clever pass out to the right of the box who made no mistake about where the ball was going to score Kemnay’s 6th Goal and his hat trick.

Colony once again re-shaped and put pressure on the Kemnay defence, but found Reuben in good form supported by Lewis and the midfield to deny them.  Colony persisted in their quest for another goal making good use of their possession to score their second.  Ethan continued to work hard in the engine room linking up with Matthew and Sebastian. Kemnay were now forcing their way in and around the Colony goal area with Sebastian serving Matthew with a lovely through ball for Matthew to display some nice footwork, only to be denied a goal by some terrific defending.  The pressure continued on the visitors defence by way of with Ethan starting the build up from the centre of the park, Liam controlling the ball well and slamming the ball in to the net.

It wasn’t long before Kemnay were to add to the scoreboard with another quality goal from Liam for his hat trick.

Colony were not ready to give up and answered back with their 3rd goal just before the end of the period.

3rd Period

Both teams came out in the 3rd period looking like they wanted to win this game, which made it very entertaining for the spectators.  Kemnay continued to play a good passing game of football from deep positions, gradually breaking down the opposition with Ethan unleashing shots at goal, but just could not find his way past the keeper on this day. Lewis made himself available wide left and made some great runs up the left wing and was also unlucky not to score due to the on form Colony keeper.  His effort was soon to pay off when he scored a belter after some brilliant build up play.

Kemnay seemed to take the foot off the gas in the last 10 minutes of the game, which to be fair could have been due to tiredness as every one of the team gave 100% throughout the whole game.  Colony continued to play good football, showing determination to win the game.  They were rewarded with 3 more goals.

Kemnay FC Juve Player of the Match

Every one of the lads played their part in this fine performance today. Our defending was solid, midfield worked hard tracking back and pushing forward with terrific interplay. Matthew, Liam and Mason were all contenders for Player of the match this week for their energy, determination and link up play with the rest of the team. The decision was not one that i could not make alone, so i asked Derek Brown to advise Player of the Match.  For his encouraging words to his team mates and organising from the back, goal assists and headed goals from set play, this week it goes to Mason Reid.
