KEMNAY FC 97 4 INSCH 1
KFC 97 had to play this “home game” at Monymusk due to a fixture pile-up but they still managed to notch-up their 4th successive win in pretty unpleasant weather.
Kemnay started as they normally do (slowly) and it was a bit of a surprise when they scored from their first attack after five minutes. Iain played the ball to Sean from the left and he knocked it on to Alex to score with a low shot from the middle of the 6 yard box. Five minutes later and a long shot from James was well saved by the Insch keeper.
There was a scare in the Kemnay box when Charlie fresh-aired a clearance but James managed to somehow keep the ball out of the net at his right-hand post. The game went through a scrappy period but after 25 minutes and a good bit of passing, the ball broke to Fraser and he scored Kemnay’s second with a long shot into the top right corner. Two minutes later and the points were safe after Dean scored from a rebound off the keeper after a shot by Alex. The half finished with Insch having their first real attempt on goal but it went safely past the right-hand post.
Half Time: Kemnay FC 97 3 Insch 0
The most noteworthy thing about the second half was the snow storm that the boys had to play through (although the referee’s half time keepy-uppy display was also good to watch). Another slow start was interrupted by a surprise shot from Iain but the keeper was just able to react and keep it out. After 15 minutes, it was Alex who attempted to double his tally after a good run by Iain but the keeper saved well in the middle of his goal.
With the snow now falling quite heavily, James was forced to make a good reaction save with his feet. This was followed by another narrow Insch miss before the lackluster Kemnay display was punished by an away goal.
Fortunately, this setback seemed to be what Kemnay needed and they now started to create a number of 3-on-1 chances as the Insch defence tired – unfortunately, they failed to convert any until the second last minute when Sean passed the ball to Iain and he was able to score with the rebound after his first shot was blocked. With the cold and windy conditions, it was a relief for everybody when the referee finally blew for full-time.
