KEMNAY FC 97     1       FRASERBURGH LINK-UP    5
A game against the runaway league leaders promised to be difficult but Kemnay had learned some lessons from their first meeting and were hoping to put up a good fight.
In the corresponding fixture at Fraserburgh, the opposition had 3 stand-out players and Brian had a man-marking plan to reduce their effectiveness. The plan definitely worked but not well enough for a home victory.
It was almost like the fixture at Fraserburgh with a biting wind blowing rain from the pavilion end of the pitch.
Two minutes in and James pulled off a great save and the luck seemed to be going KFC’s way when Fraserburgh blasted a shot over the bar but after 10 mintes, the opposition broke down the right and the ball was squared to their number 9 who scored with a low shot from the centre of the box.

KFC’s first chance came after 15 minutes with some good work between Jack and Iain but the Fraseburgh keeper was able to get to the through-ball first. Five minutes later and Fraserburgh’s No.8 scored after a scramble in the box and a further 5 minutes on it was 3-0 when their No.9 scored with a shot from a tight angle after James had managed to save the first effort.
Credit to Kemnay as they kept their heads up, created a couple of half-chances and then eventually scored when Adam knocked the ball though to Iain who in turn forced the ball past the keeper from a narrow angle.

Half Time:Kemnay FC 97   1         Fraserburgh Link-up       3

KFC were now shooting against the wind and were struggling to get the ball out of their own half. After 5 minutes, Ryan was harshly penalised for holding in the box and Fraserburgh scored from the resulting penalty but only from the rebound after James had made a great save. Two minutes later and things were looking ominous when KFC again failed to clear their lines and Fraserburgh were able to force the ball over for number 5. At this stage, the away team appeared to sit back a bit and Adam was eventually able to put the ball through for Iain but the keeper pulled-off a good save. In the remainder of the game, Fraserburgh hit the post but were generally held at bay by the hard working KFC defence.
A difficult game against a very good team and credit must be due for keeping the score down to possibly Fraserbugh’s lowest margin of league victory.

Final score  1  -  5.
