Kemnay FC 97, were on cup duty today, in the 2nd round of the Colony Park Cup. Opponents today were Culter Deeside Boys. (CDB)
Right from the kick off early pressure from Kemnay resulted in a corner. CDB broke clear from the corner, forcing a corner of their own, which was cleared by the Kemnay defence out to Iain, who made a good run down the right wing, delivering a good cross, which was met by Fraser, to score the first goal of the game.
CDB kept pressing for an equaliser, playing some good football, they then got the equaliser their play deserved. Kemnay were on the attack again, looking to restore their lead, good play set Jack through, but the ball bobbled up in front of him and his shot was miscued over the bar! There then followed a pass from Alex to James Mitchell, who put in an inch perfect pass, for Iain to latch on to and stroke the ball past the keeper into the net, 2-1.
Some more pressure from the Culter team followed and one of their players unleashed a great shot, which looked goal bound all the way, but James Duncan produced a world class save to deny Culter and keep the score at 2-1.
Iain's pace left the CDB defence for dead and he homed in on goal to put Kemnay into a 3-1 lead, at the end of the first half.
Culter started the 2nd half the better of the two teams and were unlucky to shoot just wide. Kemnay then began to come more into the game again and an excellent pass from Jack to Iain followed some good play and Iain completed his hat-trick.
One of Kemnay's last chances of the game fell to Alex, following a lay off from Jack, but he was able to keep the ball down and it went over the bar.
Jack had a chance late on in the game, but unluckily shot into the side netting.
Full-time - Kemnay FC 4 - Culter Deeside Boys 1
Another solid performance by the whole team, well done boys!
