Today we welcomed Glentanar Boys Club to Bogbeth Park on a nice bright day with conditions ideal for a football match.
The pre-match team talk was geared around trying to maintain the high standards set by the players in their recent matches, concentrating on our passing and creating chances by getting the ball to Aaron and Kieran as often as possible to enable them to link with Alfie upfront.
Although we were moving the ball about well enough in the opening period we didn't quite reach the levels we are capable of, however following some good play from Kieran on the right to pick out Alfie, he finished well to open the scoring. Glentanar were giving a very good account of themselves at this stage and took advantage of a misplaced clearance to level up the game at 1-1. This seamed to be the spark that lit the fire for Kemnay as they began to up the tempo and with some very creative play they were beginning to put the Glentanar defence under continues pressure, which paid off with another well taken goal.
The second period was much more like Kemnay, now in top gear and playing some wonderful free flowing football which was finished off with some fantastic goals especially from Alfie and a back post header from Lennon who is all of two foot nothing but a great finisher. Although we had a healthy goals margin we continued to play very well and finished the second period very strongly.
The third period saw another 6 goals scored with one against and it was good the see Alfie netting 5 goals today as well as making a tremendous contribution to the team with some hard graft in midfield and resolute defending. Aaron added three to his seasons tally, Lennon and Stuart getting two apiece, Leah with a well deserved goal for her usual dynamic midfield performance and superb finish from Kieran on the stoke of full time to complete the scoring and open his account for the season.
It is always very pleasing when your opposition's coach shakes you firmly by the hand and says well done to each and every player for their performance.
All the coaches are extremely proud of the players who continue to improve game after game and if anyone has the X Factor this weekend it has to be KFC 2002. Well done everyone.
Next match away to sunny Fraserburgh, well Fraserburgh anyway.
