Kemnay 2002 V Dyce BC Aberdeen Sports Village

When Where
12 Dec 2010 (All day)

Following some frantic phone calls to numerous clubs and a failed attempt to arrange a squad game we managed to arrange a replacement fixture for the game we were due to play against Dee Boys Club today.

Dyce Boys Club kindly agreed to play us a short notice and although we knew this would be a good test for Kemnay it was also a great opportunity to gauge the level of our progress this season.

An 8.30 ko saw a few sleepy faces, mostly the parents though and a warm-up in the dark prior to the lights being switched on typifies the spirit and commitment of the team.

One other small challenge was going to come from the fact we only had seven players against Dyce's squad of eleven.

The first period saw Kemnay produce some great football with Fraser making powerful runs and Aaron using his skill and pace to torment the Dyce defence and it came as no surprise when we opened the scoring through Fraser, Aaron and Leah with Leah's goal coming straight from the training ground, a quickly taken corner kick caught both Dyce and Mr Mearns (referee) asleep as Leah unleashed an unstoppable shot in to the roof of the net.

Dyce were also playing some nice football with their players comfortable on the ball and we had to rely on Mr dependable Cameron Crosbie and some ironwork to keep Dyce at bay.

The second period began with Dyce on the ascendancy as Kemnay appeared to be either rushing their passes or choosing the wrong options which allowed Dyce to score two very quick goals and add a third but Kemnay came battling back again via a quick throw-in from Keiran to Leah followed by a good cross and a first time volley from Aaron, all amazing stuff to watch. Cameron was performing at his best with one tip over from a fierce shot the pick of the bunch in this period.

The 3rd period was pretty even despite the fact that a high tempo match was stretching our players energy levels to the maximum but with Dax and Stuart battling as if their pocket money depended on it we were not going to be out done. Another good finish from Aaron and a well taken corner on the right from Stuart saw Leah finish well ensuring that the 3rd period finished level keeping Kemnay ahead by a one goal margin as the final whistle blew.

Following this level of performance the coaches have torn up their Santa lists as we could not wish for anything better.

To say that we are extremely proud of each and every one of you is an understatement and we look forward to seeing you all after the festive break.
