Today we welcomed Byron Swifts to Bogbeth Park for this Halloween Encounter.
Following discussions with the Byron Coaches it was agreed that owing to them having a mixed squad in terms of age groups that Kemnay would be able to make a full squad rotation in the second period to enable most of our squad to get some much needed match time and to keep the match as close as possible.
The pre match focus was on ensuring we were up for the challenge as you know what to expect from Byron sides as they usually come flying out of the traps and catch you cold.
Kemnay were well prepared and began the match brightly and were first on the attack, creating a chance for Aaron to open the scoring with a cool finish with only 28 seconds played. Kemnay were then forced in to some hard graft to create more chances as Byron battled bravely forcing Leah & Stuart to battle hard in midfield to keep Kemnay ahead. Kemnay scored a well worked goal when Kieren and Fraser organised a quick throw in releasing Alfie who finished well. Aaron was on fire today causing Byron problems down the left side and he deserved his first period hat-trick following some great skill and excellent finishing allowing Kemnay to finish the first period with a four goal margin.
The second period was tougher going for Kemnay but they could not be faulted for effort and commitment with Cameron Gerrie having a fantastic game in defence. Although Kemnay were having to defend for long periods they were also quick on the counter attack with Joshua, Mitchell & Lennon linking well, forcing a number of corner kicks. Although we did concede two goals in this period, Xavier, Robert and Jay all put in a good shift and Josh produced a couple of fine saves to keep Kemnay in the game.
The third period saw Kemnay turn on the style with some absolutely fantastic football and wonderful finishing again from Aaron & Lennon and a great double from Leah saw Kemnay score Nine without conceding a goal in this period thanks another strong defensive display by Dax and Stuart and one wonder save from Cameron Crosbie whose bravery and Goal Keeping skills really are fantastic.
Kemnay certainly adopted some Halloween tactics today as Aarron and Kieren were ghosting past their defenders, and with Leah and her scary tackles which frighten the coaches never mind her opponents helping Kemnay to score a SPOOKY 13 Goals, unlucky for some!
Well done everyone, a great team performance, now go and scare someone else tonight.
