With the weather forecast for the weekend not looking too good we decided to play our home match against Stonehaven YFC at our second home - The Aberdeen Sports Village.
Problem was the only time available was 08.30hrs which at the time of booking seemed a good idea however given our performance perhaps some of the players required a longer spell in their bed.
The game started evenly with chances at both ends with both goalkeepers making fine saves.
A header off the goal-line by Brett for a Stonehaven corner kept the scores level.
A good run by Keiron who passed to Scott and his shot went narrowly wide.
Another good challenge by Brett who was putting in a good performance at the heart of the Kemnay defence.
Some decent football was being played by both sides and in one move the ball broke to Scott whose snap shot was well saved by the Stonehaven keeper. Rhys was then called into action and turned a ferocious shot round the post for a corner.
From the resulting corner Stonehaven took the lead with a shot from the edge of the box.
Archie playing at the centre of midfield made a strong run and his shot was turned round the post for a Kemnay corner. The corner was played into the box and a goalmouth scramble ensued and how the ball was kept out is a mystery but it was.
After this Stonehaven started to dominate and scored two quick goals which left Kemnay 3-0 down after the first 15 minutes.
Kemnay have always been good at coming back but this time for some reason their heads seemed to go down and there wasn't the same fighting spirit as we have seen in the past.
A strong run by Keiron who beat several players before laying it off to Scott whose fine shot was well saved.
Rhys was soon called into action and made two excellent saves to keep the score down.
Craig and Scott then combined to set up a chance but Scott's shot was just past the post.
Brett then made another good tackle to stop Stonehaven from getting a shot on target.
Stonehaven were starting to totally dominate the game and scored three goals in a 4 minute spell which left Kemnay now 6-0 down after the second 15 minutes.
The last 15 minutes was evenly contested with defences on top.
Both Archie and Ruth had shots which were just off target.
The game finished 6-0 to Stonehaven who deserved their win but the game was not quite as one sided as the score would suggest.
As stated previously Kemnay did not show the same qualities that they have shown in the past with some poor passing and players forgetting what position they were meant to be playing - something that we will have to work on in training.
