We welcomed Fraserburgh Link-up to Bogbeth Park for this wekends Development League fixture. This was indeed our first game to be played at Kemnay this year.
The rain that had fallen earlier in the day had thankfully stopped and conditions although a little heavy underfoot were ideal for football.
Kemnay started the brightest with some good passing and link up play but unfortunately it was Fraserburgh who would break the deadlock with their first attack. An excellent finish after a long ball from defence. The Fraserburgh tactic was to leave a player as far forward as possible at all times and this proved to be the downfall for Kemnay as the home defence were left exposed on numerous occassions.
Kemnay continued to play some good football with Craig, Keiron and Scott combining well and only some solid defending from Fraserburgh kept the home team out.
The game was going from end to end and was very entertaining for the supporters watching and it was the turn of Rhys to pull off a fantastic save to keep Fraserburgh out. Craig was making some excellent runs down the right and was linking up well with Ruth.
The first 15 minutes finished 1 - 0 to Fraserburgh
Like the first 15 minutes we were to lose an early goal after the home defence were posted missing.
Shortly after Keiron had to go off injured after a collision with the Fraserburgh goalkeeper.
Fraserburgh went on to score a further two goals soon after again the Kemnay defence were slow to clear their lines and the Fraserburgh striker pounced. 4-0 to Fraserburgh.
As in previous games several of the Kemnay players showed tremendous character and didn't let their heads drop and tried extremely hard to claw the game back.
Some excellent football by Ethan set up Scott whose ferocious left foot drive beat the Fraserburgh keeper for Kemnay's first goal.
Shortly after a shocking tackle from behind left Keiron badly injured and to his credit the Fraserburgh coach immediately sent his player off.
The second fifteen finished 4-1 to Fraserburgh.
Wit ha change in goals - Craig replacing Rhys who was to play in central defence to try and shore up the home defence.
Keiron after some treatment was able to resume and thankfully he did - for not long after coming back on a tremendous volley gave the Fraserburgh goalkeeper no chance.
Kemnay were now doing all the pressing and looked more solid in defence with Rhys commanding at the heart of it.
A corner on the right was cleared by the Fraserburgh defence but only as far as Scott at the edge of the box who took one tocuh before firing in a scorching left foot drive which beat the goalkeeper but unfortunately crashed against the post before coming back out and hitting the goalkeeper on the back and going into the net. 4-3 to Fraserburgh and Kemnay had their tails up.
Unfortunately despite the defence being more solid with Rhys their the old problems came back to haunt us as Fraserburgh scored three goals in quick succession with the home defence know where to be seen.
A mention must be given about some of the skills on display by Ruth who showed some Ronaldo like touches and flicks which was extremely pleasing on the eye and great to see.
Final score 7-3 to Fraserburgh.
Despite the score-line there were some excellent performances by the home team and on another day it might have been Kemnay who ran out the winners - but not today.
