K2001 4 v ALC Lewis 8

When Where
7 Mar 2010 9:30am

Once again we played our Development League match at the Aberdeen Sports Village. This week we were agianst ALC Lewis.

For the first time we changed goalkeepers with Samuel in goal instead of Rhys who played in the defence.

Kemnay started brightly with a good run by Archie down the left who was well tackled by one of the ALC defenders.

With ALC's first attack they scored the opening goal when the ball squirmed under Samuel's body and into the goal.

The game flowed from end to end with both teams creating chances in what was a very entertaining game.

Kemnay were working extremely hard and chasing and mounting pressure on the ALC goal. A great shot by Scott went just wide. Then it was Ruth's turn whose excelletn shot was well saved by the ALC keeper.

The Kemnay defence was being well marshalled by Rhys who was putting in some solid tackles and was being assisted by Keiron - they made a fantastic partnership at the back.

Samuel was called into action and made a fine save - however it was not long before ALC scored their second (or should I say Kemnay scored their second). The ball was played across the goal and the unfortunate Rhys turned it past his own goalkeeper.

Unlike the previous week the Kemnay players did not give up and continued to press for their opening goal and once again Ruth was denied by the ALC keeper.

The opening goal for Kemnay was worth the wait. ALC cleared their lines well and when the ball broke to Keiron at the half way line there was no indication of what was to happen next. With a fine control and almighty shot which cleared the ALC defence and sailed into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance.

The game continued to go from end to end with ALC playing some good football and terrific passing they were putting some pressure on hte Kemany defence.

Another fine tackle by Rhys kept them out and when Samuel was called upon he kept his goal in tact.

Kemnay's second goal was almost as good as the first at it was direct from a corner that Archie managed to find the top corner - end of first 15 minutes - 2-2.

Craig & Scott made way for Campbell and Micheal for the second fifteen which seemed for a while to disrupt the flow of the game - particularly as far a Kemnay were concerned.

However credit must be given to ALC for some terrific football and before we knew it Kemnay were down 6-2.

But the fighting spirit that this group of players are known for was in evidence when a fantastic run by Rhys down the left beating several ALC players before squaring to Ethan who tapped in to make the score 6-3.

Despite several chances it was ALC who were to score the next goal to make the score after the second 15 minutes - 7-3.

For the final 15 minutes we changed goalkeepers with Rhys replacing Samuel who had done a fine job in his first game in goals. However Rhys would be missed outfield as some of his tackling were firm but fair.

Michael who had switched to defence was getting into his stride and made several important tackles to keep ALC out and he was being helped in the defensive duties by Campbell.

Rhys made several fine saves and in attack Kemnay were creating chances and Craig was unlucky when through on goal he was tackled from behind resulting in a free kick just outside the box. His effort o ngoal was well saved.

A fantastic run by Archie who beat 3 or 4 ALC players before being fouled inside the box. Archie who looked badly injured got up and dusted himself down before blasting his penalty out of the reach of the ALC keeper. Score 7-4.

The game continued to be played at a frantic pace and in good spirit and it was ALC who were to get the last goal of the game to make the final score 8-4 to ALC.

Full credit to both sets of players for a fantastic game and I am extremely proud of the Kemnay players on how they never gave up, worked their socks off for each other and played like a real team.

Thanks to David Caney for taking the match notes who singled out Keiron, Rhys, Archie & Samuel as Kemnay's top performers today.
