COVE BOYS CLUB      0       KEMNAY FC 97         3
Having won the home game 4-0, KFC 97 were confident of repeating the victory at Hazelhead but this proved to be a much more difficult proposition than expected.
The start of the game was scrappy with neither team creating a clear-cut chance and it was Cove who eventually forced a couple of successive corners but were unable to convert. The first real shot on goal came from Cove after 20 minutes but James held it well. Five minutes later and it was Alex who made a goal-line clearance following another Cove attack.
KFC 97 had failed to make any decent chances so it was with relief just before the half-hour mark that the ball broke to Jack on the right and he was able to turn and send a low shot into the net off the lefthand post.
Cove continued to press and it was Alex again who managed to get his leg in the way to prevent a goal at the righthand post. When the halftime whistle came, the score probably flattered the away team.

With the wind helping, KFC started to enjoy more possession and Chris was unlucky to have an effort saved by the Cove keeper. Five minutes in and Iain ran-on to a ball that had been chipped over the defence but his shot was blasted over the bar. A few minutes later and the Cove keeper saved an attempt by Iain and Chris was just unable to convert the rebound.
KFC were now on top and it was Adam who coolly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper for the second goal after some good interplay between Connor and James M.
The home fans had been particularly vociferous against the referee and the KFC players and there was controversy 25 minutes into the second half, when the referee appeared to be influenced by the “crowd” in chopping-off what appeared to be a perfectly good goal from Leon (offside we think was the reason). There was further controversy a few minutes later when the home fans loudly questioned whether the referee actually possessed a yellow card – he promptly pulled one out and booked Jack after a fairly tame tackle.
KFC responded to all the “banter” in the best way possible by scoring a third when Iain ran-onto a ball from Jack and then lobbed the advancing keeper.
A tougher game than expected but three more points in the bag - second place is still a distinct possibility!!!
