Colony Colts      3           KEMNAY FC 97       5

The first friendly of the season saw Kemnay FC 97 beat Colony Colts 5-3 although the score line in no way reflects the balance of play.
Kyle was the first to have a shot from range but the keeper held it well. James and Connor Ross were the next to take shots but both came to nothing. After 10 minutes, Fraser stuck out his foot to a ball from the right but his effort went just past the post. Alex in the Kemnay goal had yet to make a save (or even touch the ball)!
Adam had a shot saved before Colony eventually managed an attempt on goal but Alex (who is deputising for the injured James Duncan) wasn’t going to let it past. After 20 minutes, a good break saw Sean have a chance on goal but he failed to convert it. Completely against the run of play, with seconds to go to the end of the first period and with Alex off his line, Colony scored with a high looping shot from the right.

First Period:  Colony Colts      1      Kemnay FC 97     0

Ten minutes in and Adam forced a good save from the keeper then persevered with the rebound which he eventually lashed across the goal and into the net (off a defender perhaps?).
Liam had a chance 5 minutes later but he pushed it just past the post. KFC 97 took the lead just before the end of the second period when again it was Adam who forced the ball over the line after it had been sent across goal by Fraser (who might claim the ball was over the line before Adam got to it).

Second Period: Colony Colts      1      Kemnay FC 97     2

Iain had two good chances in the space of 2 minutes but the keeper was in form and saved them both. Connor Ross put in a good blocking tackle on one of Colony’s rare attacking moves but the opposition equalised from the resulting corner after some poor marking.
A few minutes later and the home side went ahead when the KFC defence were posted missing and any one of 4 Colony players could have stroked the ball home.
With only 5 minutes to go, things were looking grim but Iain improved things by equalising with a good individual effort low to the keeper’s right. Things got a whole lot better 2 minutes later when Fraser gave Colony a taste of their own medicine with a lob over the keeper from about 25 yards.
The day was complete when Connor Hunter scored with a glancing header after some good work on the left.
A good work-out but things will be a whole lot harder when the B-League starts.
