Byron Munich 1 v’s Kemnay 2001 1
The team travelled to the heady heights of the Northfield playing fields to take on Byron Munich after there run of games at the Aberdeen Sports village; the weather for the match was overcast and windy.
Kemnay started with 3 - 3 -1 formation, with Brett leading the forward line Archie, Craig and Ruth in midfield and Adam, Keiron and Kerr in defence with Samuel between the sticks. Kemnay pressed forward from the kick off and made some excellent chances to take the lead but some good defending from Byron and some excellent stops by their keeper. The best chance for Kemnay came from some good link up play from Brett, Ruth and Archie made space for Ruth who shot just wide. Solid defending from Adam, Keiron and Kerr with some good stops from Samuel saw the 1st 15 minutes end in stalemate    0 – 0
The 2nd 15 minutes started with Ruth moving into the centre forward position, Brett moving to midfield alongside Keiron and Archie, Campbell replaced Adam in defence with Craig going in goals. Kemnay started the same as the 1st 15 good link up play and passing between the midfield and forward. The pressure on the Byron goal was relentless with Kemnay looking like they were going to break the deadlock, a quick counter attack saw the Byron forwards break through the Kemnay defence and the Byron centre forward 1 on 1 with Craig, the striker pass the ball into the net with Craig unlucky not to stop it. Byron had the lead against the run of play. Kemnay restarted and went straight on the offensive with Keiron, Samuel and Brett all having chances. Ruth continued to torment the Byron defence with her runs on goal leading to Kemnay forcing a series of corners but we were still unable to beat the Byron keeper. Byron lead 1 – 0.
The last 15 saw Brett return to lead the line and with the wind at there backs Kemnay continued to create chances. Adam, Kerr and Samuel were continuing to clear the Kemnay lines with Craig sometimes being called into action. Byron nearly made it 2 – 0, a low strike cannoned of the post with Craig beat, the rebound striking Craig and going for a corner. With 5 minutes left Kerr got the ball on the right and passed to Ruth who then crossed the ball to Keiron, the Byron defence tried to clear the ball but fouled the Kemnay midfielder. Keiron picked himself up and thumped the ball home into the Byron net, up went the arm with the finger in the air and the trade mark celebration of the Kemnay midfielder began to the cheers of the Kemnay supporters and players. Kemnay continued to press for the winner with Archie and Ruth coming close. The game finished as it began with Kemnay on the attack. Final Score 1 – 1 .

I think that the parents at the game will agree that the score does not reflect the effort that the whole team put in from the goalkeeper to the frontline. The game was played in excellent spirit. Special mention goes to our defence Adam, Craig, Kerr, and Samuel and of course the goal scorer Keiron they all played there part in limiting the amount of chances the Byron forwards had to score. The Midfield and attackers worked hard in creating chances and also helping out the defence when it was needed . Looking forward to the next game against Colony.
