BANKS OF DEE 2 KEMNAY FC 97 5
Brian noted that the opposition keeper was relatively small and told the team to try to hit the ball high into the net. Unfortunately, in trying to do this, many shots were blasted over the bar.
Adam was the first to scoop the ball over the top following a good run then Iain was put-through on goal but the keeper saved. Banks of Dee had their first attempt on goal following some slack defending but James saved well. The slack defending continued and after 10 minutes, Banks of Dee fired in a long shot that James was just unable to hold and the ball ended-up in the net. Fortunately for Kemnay, the heads didn’t go down and within a couple of minutes, Sean passed the ball to Jack who hit a long looping shot over the keeper and into the top left-hand corner.
Kemnay continued to press with Adam coming close and Iain hitting the bar but Banks of Dee were still dangerous with James having to hold a volleyed shot. It wasn’t until the final minute of the half that Iain put Kemnay ahead, lifting the ball over the keeper after a bit of heady-football in the box.
Half Time:Banks of Dee 1 Kemnay FC 97 2
Kemnay continued to create the better chances but they also continued to hit them over the bar, either directly or via the Banks of Dee keeper who was actually playing quite well. After about 15 minutes, the home team reminded us that the game wasn’t over and their No. 6 blasted the ball just over. Kemnay’s third came from Connor Hunter following a bit of a scramble in the box but Banks of Dee made it a nervous last ten minutes when their No.6 wasn’t closed-down and was able to unleash an unstoppable shot into the top right corner.
The nerves were spared when Iain restored the two-goal lead with a low shot and with 5 minutes to go it was James Mitchell who converted after the keeper parried a shot from Adam.
Not the best of performances but its results that count and this score keeps Kemnay well in the race for second spot.
