Albion BC v Kemnay FC Juve

When Where
28 Feb 2010 - 10:30am

Kemnay made the trip to Aberdeen for their latest Development League fixture. With the weather having been so poor, this was to be only their second  since November and with Albion BC the opponents it promised to be a tough fixture.

The game kicked off on a fine, if blustery morning and with a pitch in good condition. The opening 20 minutes was somewhat scrappy with both teams trying but struggling to gain the ascendency. If anything Albion BC looked the more composed when they did manage to string a few passes together and it was the visiting defence of Reuben and Cameron who were the busier and needed to be on their toes. It was the home team that did eventually make the breakthrough, scoring two goals before the end of the first period. There was a touch of good fortune about the goals with a back pass bobbling at the worst possible time to deceive Archie for the first and a deflected shot resulting in the second. Nevertheless you couldn't deny the home team their lead.

Unfortunately the second period was not as closely fought with the home team seemingly able to score almost at will. Kemnay did not help themselves at times needlessly conceding possession and with Albion able to pass and move at speed they soon added a number of goals to their tally. Indeed the goal tally could have been even higher had it not been for some good defending and a few good saves from Archie.

Kemnay did manage to get something of a foothold in the final 20 and did play some better football. Albion always had the upper hand though and added further to their goal tally with a couple of good finishes. The visitors did claw a goal back finally. Some good play on the right by Sebastian saw him win a throw in. He took it himself and when the ball was squared across the penalty box, Liam took a touch and finished well. Soon after that Mason had a long range attempt on goal which flew over and Mason and Cameron had to be on their guard time and again to stop further goals for Albion.

With almost the final kick of the game Kemnay did get a second goal that their efforts deserved, Sebastian shooting into the net from close range.

All in all, a combination of lack of games and training in recent weeks probably contributed to a lacklustre performance by the visitors. That said, it would be unfair to take anything away from Albion BC, who played some lovely football at times, scored some good goals and on the day proved just too good for Kemnay.
