KEMNAY FC 97   4       CULTER BC COLTS    0

It was 2nd versus 4th in this (near) top of the table clash and after 3 convincing wins, this promised to be KFC 97’s hardest game to date.

The first 10 minutes were very cagey as both teams tried to settle and neither keeper was troubled. After 10 minutes, Kemnay won a corner on the left and this was crossed in by Adam. The ball was duly returned to him and he first-timed it to the far side of the box where James Mitchell controlled it beautifully and sent it over the keeper and into the left corner of the net.

The game was mainly being played in the Culter half but the Kemnay keeper James Duncan dealt comfortably with anything that came his way. After 20 minutes, Kemnay doubled their lead and what a goal it was! A free kick was won about 25 yards out and when Connor Ross stepped up, most of the Kemnay parents reckoned he was going to score. He duly did, blasting the ball over the wall and past the despairing Culter keeper who hardly had a chance to move.

Half Time: Kemnay FC 97    2     Culter BC Colts    0

The second half saw Culter come more into the game and their substitute centre forward, who looked tall enough to be playing senior football, created a few problems for the Kemnay defence. After about 50 minutes, Culter were guilty of “not playing to the whistle” and thought the ball had gone out of play – James Mitchell played on and after being hauled down in the box, a penalty was correctly awarded. James got to his feet and stroked the ball past the keeper to make it 3 – 0.

Culter then had their strongest period of pressure, hitting the woodwork twice and having an almost guaranteed goal stopped by a last gasp challenge from Charlie. KFC 97 weathered the storm and the 4th goal came from a pass by Iain, Adam ran onto it, beat one player then ran past another and had only the keeper to beat. Some might have called it a “toe-poke” but his dad (who happens to be writing this) reckons Adam delightfully guided the ball through the legs of the oncoming keeper and into the net.

Well done lads and keep it up for next week’s game against 3rd-placed Kintore.
