INSCH & DISTRICT FC   1   V   KEMNAY FC 97   4

It was a Sunday morning more suited for aqua aerobics, than a football match.

Following a pitch inspection by the ref the game got the go ahead.

With conditions very difficult underfoot for both teams, the passing and control was not at it's best at times, but both sets of players got stuck in and made the most of chances which came their way.

On the 15 minute mark, a well struck shot from just outside the box, saw Alex open the scoring for Kemnay.

Kemnay's second came following a scramble in the 6 yard box, where Adam, managed to get enough of the ball to guide it into the corner of the net, on the half hour mark. Taking Kemnay into a half time 2-0 lead.

The second half kicked off, with no relenting in the horrendous conditions!

Leon latched onto a through ball, laying it off well, to Iain 30 yards out, Iain drove on towards goal, beating the keeper comfortably and putting Kemnay 3 up.

Insch replied with their only goal of the game, which came from a cross in from the right, the ball ran across the 6 yard line, where an Insch player got to the ball first, slotting it home, to make it 1 - 3.

Kemnay's final goal came after a scramble in the box, which fell to Adam on the penalty spot, where he managed to beat the keeper, by chipping the ball into the right hand corner of the net.

Insch came close from a free kick on the edge of the box, the Insch player managed to get the ball up and over the (makeshift) wall, only to be denied by Nathan, who performed an acrobatic diving save to his right, even managing to hold onto the ball, in such slippery conditions.

Nathan was standing in for James Duncan the K97 keeper, who was unavailable, after an accident while out 'guising' the night before, I'm happy to add the injury is not serious.

Kemnay ran out well deserved winners, on a day where both sets of players deserve a lot of credit for braving the elements so well.

Also well done to all the supporters/parents who braved the storm, much better than a long, cosy lie in on a Sunday morning, I'm sure they'll all agree!!!
