K2000 travelled up to the Broch for a match which always promised to be a hard game.  A couple of call offs meant Kemnay only had 10 players to choose from.

The match was played on an astroturf pitch, which most of the Kemnay team were unfamiliar with, and maybe this was a reason for their poor showing in the first part of the game.  Nathan Smith in goal, as always did his best, but with little support in front of him, he found himself picking the ball out of the net on a few occasions.  K2000 failed to score in this period, but towards the end, were starting to find their feet on a new surface, on a pitch that was probably too small for 8 a side.

The second half proved much better for Kemnay, Nathan Smith in goal was really unlucky with a couple of shots that squirmed away from him, there's no doubt on the slower grass pitches he'd have held them with no problem.  K2000 applied themselves much better in this half, and the good play was rewarded by a fine goal from Kirstie McLean, her first ever in the black and white.  This spurred on the whole team, who all found a little bit of extra pace, and some more bite in the tackle.

The 3rd period again was much closer, with K2000 improving all the time.  This half, Scott Dey played in goal, with Nathan Smith moving into midfield.  Kemnay had quite a few chances, with Cameron Muirhead and Callum Campbell opting to pass instead of shooting.  Inevitably, it was Scott Beverley who grabbed the goal, breaking free from the defence, and slotting cooly past the advancing keeper.  In midfield Matthew Cassidy was doing his best to get in about the opposition, despite suffering from car sickness on the journey up, which really is a testament to the spirit of the team, they really want to help each other out.

In the end, it was a defeat for Kemnay, but the coaches can take heart from the improvement shown throughout the game on a surface that was new to the team.

Next week K2000 are at home for the final  match in this section of games.  With head coach John missing due to a Christmas do, it's down to Ally, Jamie and David to send the team into the new year with a good performance.
