Colony Colts 6 V K2001 2

When Where
4 Oct 2009 - 10:30am

Our Development League adventure continued with the short trip to Inverurie to play Colony Colts. Played in glorious sunshine it was the perfect day for football.

With regular goalkeeper Rhys unavailable it gave some other members of the squad an opportunity to play in goals. Scott, Keiron and Samuel put themselves forward to take their place between the sticks.

The game started brightly with Kemnay on the attack and some good passing between new player Archie and Craig split open the Colony defence and only a great save by the Colony goalkeeper prevented Brett from scoring.

Against the run of play a long ball from defence left the Colony striker through on goal with only Scott to beat. With a cool finish he made it 1-0 to Colony. Minutes later it was 2-0 when Colony scored from a corner.

Kemnay continued to press but could not get through a well organised Colony defence.

It was Keiron's turn to go in goal and after several good saves Colony eventaully made it 3-0 and shortly after it was 4-0. Kemnay did not deserve to be 4-0 down as they were playing good football but could just not get the breakthrough.

In the last 15 minutes of the game some good passing by Ethan, Craig and Archie saw Scott scoring Kemnay's first goal with a good finish. Kemnay were now on all out attack and a quick corner kick taken by Craig to Scott saw Scott beat the defender to square the ball to Brett who side footed home from close range.

Craig and Ruth were causing problems for the home defence with their pace but it was Colony who were going to score two quick goals to make the final score 6-2 to Colony.

The score does not reflect on what was an even game played in excellent spirit and both teams were a credit to their respective clubs.

Special mention for Michael who was making his first start in defence and he put in a very solid performance and will only improve with games.

The more games the team plays the better they will become and there are some very positive signs.
