ALC Lewis Colts 2 V K2001 2

We travelled to Aberdeen to play this fixture indoors at the Aberdeen Sports Village. The facilities there are excellent and our kids made the most of their first game there.

After a good warm-up Kemnay started brilliantly with some good link-up play between Brett & Ruth resulting in a shot into the side netting. At the other end Rhys had a good save & Samuel was working hard in defence, despite not feeling well as we later found out. Some good play by ALC Lewis resulted in us going 1-0 down early in the first 15 minutes but the Kemnay players continued to push forward with some good play by Archie & Ruth and more solid defending by Samuel. Archie had a great run resulting in a Kemnay corner but in the ensuing goal mouth scramble we were unable to equalise. A brilliant run by Ruth was then followed by a shot cleared by their goalie.

The second 15 minutes saw Kemnay even up the numbers to 9-a-side & this gave them a lot more of the ball. Archie & Craig both had shots on goal go just wide & Brett also had a shot saved by their keeper. At the other end Rhys was once again making some fine saves. This period saw some good runs by Scott & a well-timed pass to Archie set him up to score the well deserved equaliser.

This seemed to give Kemnay a confidence boost for the last 15 minutes and this prompted an assault on the ALC lewis goal with Craig & Brett both shooting wide & the ALC keeper making a great save from a shot by Archie. Rhys had a couple of saves to make but Kemnay had by far the most of the ball at this stage so it was completely against the run of play when ALC scored to go 2-1 up.

Far from letting their heads go down the Kemnay players linked up well & kept pushing forward which resulted in a great goal by Brett to even up the score at 2-2.

The result was a well desrved draw against a young but very good team & the Kemnay players should all be proud of their performance today. It's great to see them coming on so well and enjoying themselves in the development league - roll on January!
